Pennies & Feathers is very proud to be a British brand, with all of my products being entirely made by hand in small batches in the English countryside. I only use the highest quality, and where possible and indicated, certified organic ingredients.

For the natural oils, we use a traditional method of production called maceration. This uses a simple, but lengthy, process to slowly absorb the key components of the plant, it's aroma and therapeutic properties, without heat which can damage the structure of the oils. Maceration is used in the production of our calendula, rose and lavender oils.

I aim to keep the ingredients in all of my products to a minimum, only using what I believe to be beneficial to the skin, with no fillers or added artificial fragrance.

Mineral Oil • Parabens • Artificial Fragrance/Parfum • SLS

Apricot Kernel Oil* (Prunus armeniaca): This wonderful lightweight oil is easily absorbed into the skin, and is very similar to our skin's own natural sebum, making it ideal for sensitive and dry skins. Rich in essential fatty acids, apricot kernel oil is high in vitamin A, as well as Vitamin C and E.

Aqua: The water that we use in our Orange and Rose Facial Mist is always spring water.

Argan Oil* (Argania spinosa): Not only a brilliant natural moisturiser, argan oil is also very healing to the skin as it is rich in Vitamin A and E. It is filled with antioxidants; which limit the production of free radicals, linoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids.

Borage Oil* (Borago officinalis):Borage is a wildflower, commonly known as the Starflower. This oil is extremely high in GLA, an essential fatty acid, which aids in restoring moisture and smoothness to dry and damaged skin and also provides relief to those suffering with skin irritations such as eczema and psoriasis.

Calendula* (Calendula officinalis): This oil is found in the marigold flower, and is created through the maceration process described above. This holds powerful anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties, excellent for general skin repair. The carotenoids that give the flowers their bright orange and yellow colours, are also antioxidants. This oil is very gentle on sensitive skins and often used in baby products.

Chamomile Oil* (Anthemis nobilis): One of the oldest known medicinal herbs, Chamomile essential oil has many soothing and calming properties and is great at reducing inflammation in the skin.

Evening Primrose Oil* (Oenothera Biennis): Rich in fatty acids and GLA (gamma linolenic acid), this oil accelerates wound healing by repairing and maintaining skin tissue. It has also been found to help combat changes in the skin due to ageing such as redness, firmness and dryness.

Geranium Leaf Oil* (Pelargonium graveolens): This essential oil has an astringent property which aids in tightening the skin and reducing the look of wrinkles. It also encourages new cell growth and healing of the skin too, helping with the appearance of scars.

Glycerin*: A natural humectant, glycerin moisturises the skin by attracting water from the air into the skin's outer layer. This also forms a protective layer to help prevent moisture loss.

Lavender Oil* (Lavandula angustifolia): One of the most versatile essential oils, lavender oil is wonderfully powerful at stimulating the healing process of the skin and promoting healthy cell growth. It is anti-inflammatory, balancing, calming and relaxing to the mind too.

Lemon Essential Oil* (Citrus limonum): This fresh, awakening essential oil has excellent cleansing properties and is antiseptic too.

Orange Essential Oil* (Citrus sinensis): An oil derived from the outer peel of the fruit, this is an excellent regenerative oil for all skin types, especially dry and sensitive. Promoting the production of collagen and also holding anti-inflammatory properties too.

Orange Blossom Flower Water* (Citrus aurantium var amara): Floral waters have been used for centuries in beauty rituals, and orange blossom in particular is great for soothing irritated, dry skin and reducing redness. It also leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Rosa Centifolia*: This type of rose is known as the Cabbage Rose, or Moroccan Rose, and is filled with an array of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are wonderfully moisturising, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory when used on the skin. It can also refine skin texture and the scent has been found to be positive in treating anxiety and depression.
It actually takes tens of thousands of rose flowers, which are picked in the early hours of dawn, to create 1 ounce of rose essential oil.

Rose Flower Water* (Rosa damascena flower water): The rose flower water used in our facial mist was extracted through a single distillation process, guaranteeing a high content of the therapeutic oil. It is soothing, hydrating and refreshing on the skin, also helping to reduce redness and aid in skin elasticity.

Rosa Damascena Oil*: This is the oil from a Damask Rose, and it contains the same wonderful properties as the Rosa Centifolia oil as above.

Rose Hip Oil* (Rosa moschata): This oil is has significant anti-ageing benefits for your skin, due to the high levels of antioxidants and Vitamin A and C. It is good for regenerating and healing, hydrating and smoothing the skin too. A real powerhouse oil.

Shea Butter* (Butyrospermum parkii): This well-loved ingredient is sourced from the nuts of the Shea Tree. It is highly moisturising and softening, and filled with Vitamin A and E.

Sunflower Oil (Helianthus annuus): Rich in Vitamin E, sunflower oil is great at improving overall skin health, regenerating cells and reducing free radicals that cause damage to the skin.

Tocopherol: This is essentially Vitamin E, and not only is this a key antioxidant for your skin, it also is included in our products to help naturally preserve the other delicate oils.
